Lavender. What comes to mind when you hear that word? Hazy, sunny fields of purple filled with bees? The scent of a particular aroma? An essential oil that can seemingly “do it all”? There is so much to know about Lavender, especially when it comes to understanding how different one species of lavender is depending on where it grows. There is even more to know and understand when considering how many “common names” call different plants the same thing. For instance, several different species of lavender are called “French Lavender.” Interesting, right? Let’s start with an overview of the Lavandula Genus, the Lavender family.
